Choices in The Butterfly Effect

So, I wanted to address a little something that I'm sure most are aware of but may not be fully sure about. As most may realize, when playing The Butterfly Effect, you have to make certain choices as you progress. As implied by the subheading,  Every Choice matters; some are minor, some are moderate, and some are major.  Though, the game never specifies which is which, each choice you make will affect the story in some way.

  • Minor choices affect certain dialogue paths, adding new, simple dialogue to the story or opens new dialogue paths.  While these choices do make a few differences, they won't affect the path of the story greatly.
  • Moderate choices affect pathing in the story. Each time you make a moderate choice, it locks away certain paths that can only be accessed by revisiting each option.
  • Major choices affect the game overall. TLDR, once these choices are made, it will ALWAYS affect certain parts of the story.

The way these works are based off of a point system (Which will be explained deeper on my Patreon) that is designed to calculate each choice you make. Choices you make (Even the minor ones) can cause you to miss even the smallest path created, which is why there aren't many choices within the game.

Just wanted to give you all a quick rundown for anyone, new or existing, who wondered if every choice really mattered. If you're interested in knowing more or even want to learn how to code such things into your games, I go into a deeper explanation on my Patreon (Once it is approved) which will not only give visual aid but may show you a few secrets I added within the game. Hope you all are having a wonderful year and enjoying the improvements. Until next time...
